If you’d like to get out of your car for a closer look at the river while driving the scenic Umpqua Highway (Oregon Route 38), the Umpqua Wayside is just the ticket. Take a peek at the Brandy Bar, an unintended 1850 sailor party location, and read how it was named. Stretch your legs while enjoying waterfront surroundings.
Riverside picnic area
Pick a choice table surrounded by cedars and other Oregon riverfront greenery as you watch the Umpqua River flow by. Bird song accompanies the passing of cars from the main road. Perhaps you’ll also see a boat launch from the rough ramp, or instead enjoy the scenery in solitude.
